NXT Pathway CIC is committed to ensuring food provided as part of our programmes is safe, hygienic and appropriate for all participants.
Food safety is a core part of our planning and delivery, particularly when working with children, young people and families.
We are committed to:
Providing safe, nutritious food in line with programme requirements
Managing allergens and dietary needs carefully
Working with registered and reputable food providers
Promoting good food hygiene and healthy eating practices
Where meals are provided, food is supplied by registered food providers who meet food hygiene and safety standards.
Meals are:
Prepared off site by registered providers
Delivered in sealed, food grade containers
Stored and served in line with food safety guidance to maintain appropriate temperatures
We ensure clear arrangements are in place with suppliers regarding food safety, hygiene ratings and allergen information.
We take dietary needs seriously and:
Collect allergen and dietary information in advance where required
Ensure allergen information is clearly available
Make reasonable adjustments for dietary, cultural and religious needs
Follow the Food Information Regulations 2014 (Natasha’s Law)
Staff are briefed on allergen awareness and procedures prior to delivery.
Some programmes include supervised food based activities, such as preparing healthy snacks using mini mobile ovens.
These activities are:
Age appropriate and fully supervised
Delivered in designated areas with controlled access
Covered by specific risk assessments
Supported by appropriate hygiene practices, including handwashing and surface cleaning
Food provision is complemented by learning that promotes:
Healthy eating habits
Food skills and confidence
Understanding ingredients and balanced choices
Where appropriate, families are invited to engage with healthy eating activities to reinforce learning beyond the session.
Our food safety arrangements and risk assessments are available on request and can be shared with schools, venues, funders and commissioners as required.
